A few weeks ago I followed Lucio to Indio for his girlfriend's cousin's quincenera. A quincenera is a coming of age ceremony for hispanic women who are 15. Just like all other hispanic celebrations, it ends with a night full of dancing.
The day was to start out at the church for blessings but then some issues cropped up so they couldn't do that. Instead we got to wake up later and headed over to her house to grab some make up shots.

After that we headed out to a local park for a photoshoot.

Then came home for more...

We had great home made Mexican food right before the start of the event. I'll never forget how good that lobster salsa tasted! Once again my bad memory when it comes to words has failed me so I don't remember what the dish is called. Finally night fell and we had loads of shooting to do. Family and friends arrived and we were so busy doing formal group shots. Lucio shot all those and I helped out with the lighting - I became the voice activated light stand. It started out with the main dance where just the girl and a close boy friend would waltz to. After that people just ate... and danced...

...and danced...

...and danced...

...and had lots of fun while I was happily grabbing shot after shot with loads of smiles! I guess its true to say that every Mexican knows how to dance... and you probably won't find one who wouldn't!
